Librarians Gather for a Conference on Innovation and Creativity

Last term, a prestigious school hosted the annual conference for librarians from the CHISZ and ATS associations. The conference was attended by 31 delegates from different parts of the country, who had the opportunity to visit various facilities and learn from experts.

One of the highlights of the conference was the tour of the Megahey Center, a state-of-the-art building that houses a library, a media centre, a computer lab, and a makerspace. The delegates were impressed by the modern design and the cutting-edge technology of the centre, which fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration among students and staff.

The delegates also visited the library of the girls’ school and the library of the junior school, where they observed the activities and programs that promote reading and learning. They appreciated the diversity and quality of the resources and the services offered by the librarians, who cater to the needs and interests of the students.

The conference also featured two presentations by guest speakers, who shared their insights and experiences on topics related to librarianship. Ashleigh Heyns, a published author and a former librarian, talked about the process and the benefits of publishing your own work and gave tips and advice on how to get started. Scott Walraven, a game developer and teacher, explained the concept and value of visual narratives in video games and demonstrated how they can be used to enhance storytelling and engagement.

The conference was a success, as it provided a platform for librarians to network, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. The delegates expressed their gratitude to the host school and the speakers for organizing and facilitating the event. The conference was a testament to the importance and relevance of librarians in the changing world of education.
